Miraculous Ladybug and Cat Noir head to live-action TV for the first time

Ladybug and Cat Noir are going live-action for television for the first time.
See-Saw Films and Miraculous Corp will co-produce the series together, adapting the animated hit Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, according to Variety. It is a first. No cast or broadcast date has been announced.
Both production organisations sit inside the same group. See-Saw Films and Miraculous Corp are both Mediawan companies, with Miraculous Corp set up in 2024 as a joint venture between Mediawan and Zag Entertainment. Worldwide sales, meaning finding broadcasters and streamers outside the home market, will be handled by Mediawan Rights.
Writer Emme Hoy will adapt the series for live action. Hoy was a writer and co-executive producer, a senior writing and producing role, on Season 2 of See-Saw’s Sweetpea for Sky and Starz. She has also written multiple episodes of Honey, the BBC’s upcoming espionage series.
The new show is being built to reach a broad and older audience while keeping its existing fanbase. That is a familiar balancing act for a children’s favourite moving into live action. The producers have not detailed how the Paris-set superhero story will be restaged with real actors.
The original animation was created by Thomas Astruc, Jeremy Zag and Nathanaël Bronn and debuted on French TV in 2015. It is now in its sixth season, with Season 7 set for a late 2026 launch. Mediawan Kids & Family distributes it in more than 150 countries, where it is available on outlets including Disney Channel, Disney+, Netflix, Globo and TF1.
The numbers explain why a new version is on the table. The series recently ranked No. 1 among more than 850 school-age titles tracked worldwide by Parrot Analytics, a data company that measures audience demand. The franchise reports 54 million YouTube subscribers, more than 55 billion lifetime views and an average of 900 million views a month.
For fans, this means more Miraculous in more forms. A spin-off film was released in 2023, and the franchise has already expanded into a stage musical and a manga adaptation. A new live stage show is organised to launch worldwide in 2027.
The executive producing team is Maria Nicholson, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Simon Gillis and Ben Irving for See-Saw Films, alongside Hoy, with Nicky Earnshaw as co-producer. Heath Kenny is chief content officer of Miraculous Corp. Co-creator Zag had already told fans to expect a live-action take on the animated series, in an interview reported by Deadline.
