Chloë Grace Moretz is caught between an old flame and a new spark in the first trailer for Love Language.

Distributor Vertical released the trailer, ahead of the romantic comedy's debut on 23 October in select theatres and on digital and video-on-demand, where viewers can rent or buy it at home, according to Deadline. The date puts the film out just in time for autumn viewing.

Moretz stars as Louisa "Lou" Klaussner, an aspiring author trying to make her writing pay. The film was written and directed by Joey Power. It is his take on a classic romantic-comedy set-up, built around work, weddings and bad timing.

Lou earns a living as a ghostwriter of wedding vows, writing romantic words for other couples, as noted by The Hollywood Reporter. Her own love life is less polished. She finds herself in a romantic triangle, torn between new and old flames, according to People.

The ensemble around her includes Anthony Ramos and Manny Jacinto as the two rival love interests. The cast also features Isabel May, Billie Lourd, Lukas Gage and Chloe Fineman.

Love Language had its world premiere at SXSW in March, after being announced as a festival screening title in February 2026. SXSW, the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, is a well-known launchpad for independent films seeking distributors and attention.

For fans, this means a short wait. The trailer lays out the central choice. The full answer arrives on 23 October.
