Love Language, a romantic comedy from Vertical, opened in select theatres and on digital and video-on-demand (VOD, the rental and purchase services you watch at home) on Friday, 23 October 2026.

The film was written and directed by Joey Power and premiered at the 2026 SXSW film festival. It stars Chloë Grace Moretz, Anthony Ramos, Manny Jacinto, Isabel May, Lukas Gage and Billie Lourd. Chloe Fineman is also in the cast, according to Vert Entertainment.

Moretz plays Louisa, an aspiring author who picks up a side job writing wedding vows for other people. That is the kind of premise that puts a lot of weight on words, and the film leans on music to carry its mood.

Deadline lists eleven songs on the soundtrack. They include "Red Wine Supernova" by Chappell Roan, "Little of Your Love" by HAIM and "Gasolina" by Daddy Yankee. Cat Power's "Sea of Love" and Caribou's "Can't Do Without You" are also in the mix, along with Wilco's "Love is Everywhere (Beware)".

The list runs wide. It moves from The Fleetwoods' "Unchained Melody" to Brittany Howard and Childish Gambino's "Stay High", and from Alvvays' "Pomeranian Spinster" to Royel Otis's "Linger (as Broadcast on SiriusXM Radio)". Scheana Marie featuring The 27s closes the list with "Good as Gold (Screamo Version)".

The release is split across two routes at once. Select theatres and home viewing both open on the same day, so a viewer can choose a cinema seat or a sofa. Studios often stagger these windows, so the same-day start is a choice in its own right.

For anyone who wants to hear the soundtrack before they press play, the songs are the easiest way in. Each track is a separate artist's recording, so the album works as a guide to a romance that runs on a playlist as much as on dialogue.
