Taylor Swift will perform at the sixth annual Academy Museum Gala on 17 October.

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures announced the booking on 8 October, nine days before the event, according to Billboard. This year’s edition is the sixth annual gala staged by the museum.

The evening will honour three film figures. Actors Charlize Theron and Colman Domingo will be honoured, alongside John Carpenter, who works as both a filmmaker and a composer.

The museum describes itself as the largest museum in the world devoted to the arts, sciences and artists of moviemaking. Its annual gala brings film and music names into the same room, with a live performance set alongside the honours.

Swift arrives with a busy awards-season record. She won video of the year for “The Fate of Ophelia” at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. That win came on 27 September, less than three weeks before the gala announcement.

Earlier in the year she led the 2026 American Music Awards nominations with eight nominations, including artist of the year, according to Reuters. In August she also sat down with Recording Academy chief executive Harvey Mason Jr. at the Grammy Museum for a 20-year retrospective chat on her career.

What makes this stand out is the timing. A nine-day notice gives fans little wait. For now the museum has confirmed the performer, the date and the honourees, with further details on the evening still to come.
