Chuck Lorre used the final second of Thursday's Season 3 premiere of CBS's Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage to answer the White House. After noting that a White House spokesperson said he needs psychiatric help, he added three words: "I don't disagree," according to Variety.

The reply came in his usual spot. A vanity card, meaning a full-screen production company credit that flashes for about a second at the end of an episode, has carried Lorre's own short messages for 25 years. His website defines it in exactly those terms, as a credit that airs for one second. The full card from Thursday night is posted in Chuck Lorre's archive.

The exchange started on 26 September in Los Angeles. Lorre was honoured with the Founders Award for philanthropic work and donations at a Project Angel Food fundraiser. In his acceptance speech there, he called President Donald Trump "a bloated orange piece of shit."

Fox News Digital then asked the White House for a response. Spokesperson Davis Ingle told the outlet that Lorre should "immediately seek psychiatric help to treat severe Trump Derangement Syndrome." That statement, requested as a reaction to the fundraiser speech, became the setup for Thursday's card.

Lorre is the creator behind Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory. His self-penned cards started with Dharma & Greg and have stayed with most of his series since. He has needled politicians there before, including in one earlier card that referred cryptically to an "autocratic golf cheater."

The back-and-forth drew wider coverage. Reuters reported the White House call for Lorre to seek help after he criticised Trump. Deadline reported on 8 October that Lorre had answered through the Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage card.

What makes this stand out for viewers is the slot Lorre chose. He needed one second. The Season 3 premiere on 8 October gave him a network audience, and the archive gave anyone who paused or missed it a place to read the card in full. Twelve days after the fundraiser speech, the joke had a broadcast slot.
