Two science-fiction series built with generative AI will get their first screenings in Cannes next week. "Space Nation" and "Kira" will both hold world premieres of their pilot episodes, the opening episodes cut to introduce a show, at Mipcom, the international market where broadcasters and streamers buy new programmes, as reported by Variety.

The pilots will screen for buyers on Oct. 12 and Oct. 13 at Cinéma Les Arcades in Cannes. Both shows are produced by Ex Machina Studios, an AI-oriented production company, and sold worldwide by K5 Intl.

"Space Nation" is the larger of the two. It runs to eight episodes of 45 minutes each. It was created by Marco Weber and Martin Weisz, written by Vanessa Coifman, with Weisz directing all eight episodes.

The series is co-produced by Utopai Studios and Brazil's Globoplay. Globoplay joined the project in May 2026 at the Cannes Film Market, taking Brazilian rights, and the show will carry Globoplay Original branding.

"Kira" is a French production running to six episodes of 35 minutes each. It was created and directed by Damien Steck and Julien Petit, and written by Steck, Petit and Moritz Weber.

K5 International will use Mipcom to launch pre-sales on "Kira", meaning it will sell broadcast and streaming rights territory by territory before the series is finished. Deadline previously described "Kira" as an entirely AI-generated project and as Ex Machina's second television property after "Space Nation".

Beyond television, Ex Machina's film slate includes Roger Avary's "Paradise Lost" and Alex Proyas' "Heaven", launched with Mayfair Media Group.

What makes this stand out is the slot. Mipcom premieres put finished pilots in front of hundreds of buyers at once. For viewers at home, there is nothing to stream yet. Where these two shows land will depend on those sales.
