Pet Shop Boys release Alan Turing concept album 'A man from the future'

Pet Shop Boys have released A man from the future, a concept album about the life and death of Alan Turing, via Parlophone Records on 9 October 2026.
The release is listed among new music for 9 October by the Official Charts, and is available to stream in full, according to Billboard. It follows the duo's 2024 album Nonetheless, which peaked at No. 2 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart.
The new record tells Turing's story in eight chapters. Turing was the computer pioneer and codebreaker whose work included the Enigma code. The album is structured as an audio biography.
Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe originally wrote the work with Turing biographer Andrew Hodges in 2012-13. They performed pieces from it in July 2014 at a BBC Prom at London's Royal Albert Hall. That early version has now been updated.
The released album was reworked and rearranged with new electronic elements, new text and fresh orchestrations by Sven Helbig. It was produced by Pet Shop Boys and Helbig. String arrangements were by Helbig and performed by the Manchester Camerata Octet.
Actor Juliet Stevenson contributes spoken words drawn from Hodges' book Alan Turing: the Enigma. The eight tracks are titled "Natural wonders every child should know," "He dreamed of machines," "The Enigma," "Other ranks," "The memory and the control," "The trial," "Only in his death," and "A man from the future."
Listeners got an early hearing on the BBC. A BBC Unclassified programme presented by Elizabeth Alker offered a new version of the work ahead of release, with the episode listed on BBC Sounds as available on demand.
For fans, this means several ways to hear it. The duo's official store lists the album as a 2CD, a standard 1LP, exclusive green and orange 2LP editions and a Blu-ray edition, alongside digital and streaming options.
What makes this stand out is the timeline. A stage collaboration from more than a decade ago has been rebuilt in the studio as a full Pet Shop Boys album, closing a long-running project about Turing.
