Zara Larsson named Trevor Project's 2026 Mental Health Champion

Zara Larsson has been named The Trevor Project's 2026 Mental Health Champion of the Year.
The award was confirmed on 9 October 2026. It recognises her advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community and for mental health, according to the organisation that presented it The Trevor Project.
People carried exclusive coverage of the announcement People. The Trevor Project is a suicide prevention and crisis intervention organisation for LGBTQ+ young people. It offers information and support around the clock, all year.
Larsson was recognised for longstanding advocacy and allyship with LGBTQ+ people. The Trevor Project describes the Swedish singer as a Grammy-nominated global pop star.
Her recent work includes the album Venus, released in 2024. That same year she partnered with Maybelline on its Brave Together initiative Rolling Stone. The programme provides support tools for people living with anxiety and depression.
Larsson has also spoken openly about protecting her own mental health. She told Rolling Stone Australia she had largely quit X, formerly Twitter, and said stepping away had improved how she felt day to day.
The organisation is led by chief executive Jaymes Black. Its stated mission is to end suicide among LGBTQ+ young people.
The Trevor Project says suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people aged 10 to 24. It offers access to trained counsellors by call, text or chat at any time for anyone who needs support.
What makes this stand out is the link between a pop career and frontline support work. For fans, this means the award points back to services they can contact, not only to a ceremony.
