ABC's Scrubs has added four actors to its second season. Ed Quinn, Stephanie Koenig, Punkie Johnson and Kellan Tetlow have joined the cast. The news was reported exclusively by Deadline on 9 October 2026.

Quinn takes a recurring role, meaning he appears across multiple episodes rather than a one-off visit. He will play Dr. Jax, head of the emergency room. The part puts him in charge of the department where the most urgent cases arrive first, and where junior doctors are often tested.

Koenig also joins as a recurring player. She will play Cassie, the new hospital administrator. That is the manager who runs the business side of the hospital, from staffing to paperwork. In a hospital-set series, that job often creates friction with the medical staff.

Johnson and Tetlow arrive as guest stars, a term for actors booked for a short appearance rather than a longer run. Johnson will play Dee, a patient described as a tough prisoner. Tetlow will play Ollie, the son of established characters J.D. and Elliot.

The additions follow the launch of the new season. Season 2 began with a two-episode premiere, meaning two episodes were shown together to open the run, according to Deadline. That opening established Tosh as the lead intern, the junior doctor at the centre of the new intake.

For viewers, this means the ward is filling out on both sides. Jax and Cassie are positions of authority, the kind of roles that shape how episodes move week to week. Dee and Ollie point the other way, toward self-contained stories built around a single patient or family connection.

No further details on episode counts or first appearance dates were included in the exclusive report. The four characters have been confirmed by role and title only. Their episodes will form part of the ongoing Season 2 run on ABC.
