Channing Dungey stays to lead Warner Bros. TV Group under Skydance

Channing Dungey is staying to run Warner Bros. TV Group under its new owner Skydance.
Dungey opted to remain with the studio and is believed to have sealed a deal with Skydance, the new parent company of Warner Bros. TV Group, according to Variety. She will continue to oversee both the TV production group and the U.S. Networks unit.
The job is getting bigger. Under the merger, Dungey will oversee Paramount Media Networks cable channels in addition to the Warner Bros. Discovery channels. In plain terms, that means more basic-cable brands reporting up to one executive.
She will have two bosses in the new structure. Dungey will report to JB Perrette in his Skydance TV role and to George Cheeks, who is Skydance TV co-chair and chief content officer. Perrette is co-chair and chief business officer of Skydance TV and holds the same business title at Skydance DTC, the direct-to-consumer division that covers streaming.
Her formal title is chairman and chief executive of Warner Bros. TV Group and U.S. Networks, as laid out in a staff memo reported on 6 October. Casey Bloys sits alongside Perrette and Cheeks in the top team as co-chair and chief content officer for Skydance DTC.
Dungey confirmed her place in the new line-up in a memo to staffers, reported on 7 October by Variety. She told staff it was time to “Begin A New Chapter” as she adds the Paramount cable networks to her portfolio, according to Deadline.
The numbers explain why Skydance wanted continuity. Warner Bros. TV Group has recorded 13 new series orders and 13 series renewals so far this year, with an overall slate of more than 80 titles for more than 20 platforms.
Elsewhere in the TV organisation, David Stapf remains president of CBS Studios and Matt Thunell remains president of Paramount TV Studios.
For viewers, this means familiar hands on the schedule. The executive who commissioned and renewed this year’s shows will be the one deciding what gets made next.
