Blossoms have taken No. 1 on the UK's Official Albums Chart, the country's weekly albums ranking, with Songs From the Wedding Cake. The Stockport band finished ahead of The Beatles and their 60th anniversary reissue of Rubber Soul. The final result was confirmed on 9 October, giving Blossoms a fifth No. 1 studio album, according to Billboard.

It was a close finish. The Beatles had led the midweek update, an early count published during the chart week before final sales and streams are added up. That update, published on 5 October, had Blossoms sitting closely behind in the race for No. 1, according to Official Charts. By the end of the week the order had flipped.

The Beatles finished at No. 2. Their challenger was the Rubber Soul Special Edition, released on 2 October 2026. The set centres on a newly mixed version of the band's 1965 album by Giles Martin, the son of longtime Beatles producer George Martin.

For Blossoms, Songs From The Wedding Cake is a sixth album. It takes its name from Stockport Town Hall, a civic building in the band's home town known locally as the Wedding Cake. The album features the track Meet Me In Love, and was among the new releases highlighted by Official Charts for 2 October.

The win extends a run that began a decade ago. Blossoms first reached No. 1 in 2016 with their self-titled debut album. They returned to the top with Foolish Loving Spaces in 2020, Ribbon Around the Bomb in 2022 and Gary in 2024. Songs From the Wedding Cake is now the fifth chart-topper in that sequence.

The band formed in Stockport in 2013. Their debut went straight to No. 1 in the UK on release. It then held the top spot for a second week, keeping competition from ELO and Drake at bay, before dropping to No. 13 the following week.

What makes this stand out is the gap closed during the week. Blossoms started behind a Beatles anniversary campaign and finished in front. Five No. 1 studio albums in ten years is a rare pace for a guitar band. The numbers tell that part of the story on their own.
