Miles & Juliette starts production in Paris with Damson Idris and Anamaria Vartolomei

Production is under way in Paris on Miles & Juliette, the story of 22-year-old Miles Davis on a trip to the French capital in 1949. Bill Pohlad is directing for River Road Entertainment. A first-look image of the two leads has also been released, as reported by Deadline.
Damson Idris stars as Davis. Anamaria Vartolomei stars opposite him as Juliette Gréco. The script is by Zora Howard. The shoot is organised around Paris, where the story is set.
The supporting cast fills out a remarkable circle of real-life names from the era. J. Alphonse Nicholson plays Kenny "Klook" Clarke. Jay Reeves plays Tadd Dameron. Terrace Martin plays Charlie "Bird" Parker.
Denny Love plays James Moody. Lodric D. Collins plays Max Roach. Hubert Point-Du Jour plays John Coltrane. That is six historical figures in one ensemble, all attached to Davis's early years in music.
Music will be central to the production. Robert Glasper serves as composer and music producer. Mick Jagger is among the producers, as first reported by Deadline.
On the business side, CAA Media Finance is handling North American rights. That means the agency arm is selling the right to release the film in the United States and Canada. No distributor has been announced.
For viewers coming to the names fresh, the lead actors arrive with recent big-screen credits. Idris appeared in F1. Vartolomei appeared in Mickey 17. Pohlad previously directed Love & Mercy, according to Variety.
What makes this stand out is the focus. This is not a life-spanning portrait. It stays with a young Davis, aged 22, abroad in postwar Paris, and with his connection to Gréco. That tight frame gives the film a clear place and moment to explore.
