A new image from Nicole Garcia's film Milo has been unveiled, offering the first look at stars Marion Cotillard and Théodore Pellerin together on screen. The image was released by Studiocanal and Trésor Films, with the film now gearing up for a high-profile autumn festival run before reaching French cinemas on 20 January 2027 (Deadline).

In Milo, Cotillard plays Alice, a woman who arrives in a quiet provincial town and takes a job at a local café. Her character is secretly connected to Milo, a young mechanic played by Pellerin. Garcia directed from a screenplay she co-wrote with longtime collaborator Jacques Fieschi, with additional writing by Laurette Polmanss and Olivier Demangel.

The cast rounds out with Artus, Alexis Manenti, Anne Brochet, Éric Elmosnino, and Charles Berling. Cotillard previously worked with Garcia on the post-Second World War romantic drama From the Land of the Moon. For Pellerin, the film adds to a breakthrough stretch: he won the Best Male Hope César in February 2026 and the Louis Roederer Foundation Rising Star Award for his performance in Pauline Loquès's Nino, which screened in the Cannes Critics Week in 2025. Cotillard, meanwhile, was at Cannes in May 2026 with two films — Guillaume Canet's Karma and Bertrand Mandico's Roma Elastica — and confirmed in a Deadline interview at the festival that Milo had already finished shooting (Deadline, May 2026).

Milo marks the fourth collaboration between producer Alain Attal of Trésor Films and Garcia. Studiocanal co-produces and is handling international sales — the business of selling distribution rights territory by territory to buyers around the world. The co-production also includes France 3 Cinéma, Marcel Films, and Artémis Productions, with backing from CANAL+, Ciné+ OCS, and France Télévisions.

Several international buyers have already closed deals, according to Deadline. Mongrel Media has taken Canada, Frenetic has acquired Switzerland, Spenzos picked up Greece, Lusomundo bought Portugal, Capella took CIS (the Commonwealth of Independent States region), and MCF acquired the former Yugoslavian territories. Studiocanal will also handle the theatrical release in Germany.

The film's festival path is now taking shape on two continents. Milo has been selected for the Special Presentations slate at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (ioncinema), and it has been announced for competition at the 74th San Sebastian Film Festival in September 2026. A competition slot at San Sebastian puts the film in the running for the festival's top prize, the Golden Shell.

For audiences, the appeal is straightforward: an Academy Award-winning actress paired with one of France's fastest-rising young actors, under a director who has built her career on intimate, character-driven drama. The January 2027 French release means the domestic market — France itself — gets the film first, with international territories following on their own schedules as deals continue through Studiocanal's sales operation.
