Moon Choi has two roles at the 2026 Busan International Film Festival. Her indie drama Bedford Park is screening in the festival's noncompetitive Flash Forward section, while Choi herself sits on the main competition jury, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

That is a busy week. The jury is led by Chinese director Zhang Yimou, with Choi joined by fellow jurors including Bi Gan, Ishikawa Kei, July Jung, Tran Thi Bich Ngoc and Samal Yeslyamova, according to festival jury announcements from BIFF.

Bedford Park was written and directed by Stephanie Ahn as her first feature, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Choi stars as Audrey, a 36-year-old physical therapist living in Brooklyn. Son Sukku co-stars as Eli, a Korean adoptee and former wrestler. The film won an award at Sundance.

The story is a Korean American love story set in New Jersey's Korean-American community, as described by Variety and Screen Daily. Audrey is caught between her American identity and loyalty to her Korean heritage, according to the synopsis on the Sony Pictures Classics film page. Eli and Audrey meet after Eli is involved in a car accident with Audrey's mother, according to the Toronto International Film Festival programme notes.

The production stayed close to home for its lead. Bedford Park was shot in New Jersey, and Choi lived in New Jersey before attending university in Korea, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film was billed as a Sundance debut for both Choi and Son, who both had established careers in South Korea. Choi had previously appeared in the television dramas Mistress in 2018 and Now, We Are Breaking Up in 2021, while Son was known for My Liberation Notes.

Bedford Park has already travelled the festival circuit. It was presented at Toronto, according to Variety, and Sony Pictures Classics maintains an official page for the film.

What makes this stand out for festival watchers is the crossover. Choi is moving between Korean television, American independent film and an international jury table in the same season, with Busan putting both her acting work and her judgment as a juror in view.
