Moon Choi Serves on Busan Jury as 'Bedford Park' Screens

Moon Choi is judging films at Busan while also bringing one of her own to the audience.
The actor, known in Korea as Choi Hee-seo, sits on the seven-member jury for the Busan International Film Festival's competition section and is presenting the romance Bedford Park in a separate programme, according to Variety. The 2026 festival runs from 6 to 15 October 2026, putting both jobs inside the same ten days, according to the Busan International Film Festival.
The competition is only in its second year. Chinese director Zhang Yimou presides over the jury, which also includes Bi Gan, Kei Ishikawa, July Jung, Tran Thi Bich Ngoc, Samal Yeslyamova and Choi.
Bedford Park is screening in Busan's Flash Forward section. Written and directed by Stephanie Ahn, the American indie romance stars Choi as Audrey, a Korean American physical therapist in New Jersey, opposite Son Suk-ku as Eli, a former wrestler, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film has already travelled a long festival road. It world premiered in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at Sundance in January and won the Special Jury Award for Debut Feature. Sony Pictures Classics picked up worldwide rights, meaning it controls sales and release around the world, during Sundance. It has since played in Toronto's Discovery programme for new directors.
That journey started long before the cameras rolled. Choi auditioned for Bedford Park seven years ago. Ahn has said she wanted to tell a Korean American story she wanted to see, according to Yonhap.
Busan is familiar ground for Choi. She played Japanese anarchist Kaneko Fumiko in Anarchist from Colony, then won the festival's Actress of the Year honour in 2018 for her lead role in Our Body, which had bowed in Toronto. She has said two films brought her 14 awards in a single year.
She told Variety she put the trophies in a cabinet because seeing them on display made her feel pressure to prove herself. Eight words sum up that stretch. Too much, too fast.
She has since moved into directing and producing alongside acting. Busan's official juries page lists her as a Korea Actor.
What makes this stand out is the symmetry. A past Busan winner is now deciding the next winners, while showing audiences a small film seven years in the making.
