Konami is already planning the next era of Silent Hill, with producer Motoi Okamoto talking about "second and third waves" of games. Okamoto told Japanese magazine Famitsu the company is looking at "a number of projects" beyond its first run of new releases, Eurogamer reported on 10 October 2026.

That long view was hard won. Okamoto joined Konami in 2019 to revive the dormant horror series, and said it took time to convince executives to back it. His argument was simple: "one remake is not enough".

Konami laid out its return in 2022, announcing the Silent Hill 2 remake, Silent Hill f, Silent Hill: Townfall and the interactive series Silent Hill Ascension alongside the film Return to Silent Hill. The free short game Silent Hill: The Short Message was shadow-dropped, released with no advance warning, afterwards.

Okamoto said all three core games Konami initially announced have now been released successfully. That run includes Silent Hill 2, which Konami listed for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam with Okamoto as producer, and the two brand-new entries that followed.

Silent Hill f is the series' first entry set in Japan, a story led by Okamoto and made with writer Ryukishi07 and artist kera, according to Konami. Konami gave it a launch date of 25 September 2025. Okamoto has described it as an action horror game, pushing back on comparisons to soulslike games, a label often used for punishingly difficult action games, as disingenuous.

Silent Hill: Townfall is out now. The game is directed by Jon McKellan, and a gameplay trailer confirmed its PlayStation 5 exclusivity window will last at least six months. Eurogamer awarded it four out of five stars in its review, and Okamoto has previously called it one of the most aesthetic and sophisticated entries in the series to date.

The next confirmed project is already in development. Bloober Team, the studio behind the Silent Hill 2 remake, is rebuilding the original 1999 Silent Hill — a remake, a game rebuilt from the ground up for modern hardware — that Konami announced in June 2025, Konami has confirmed.

For players, this means the fog is not lifting yet. With the first batch delivered and a remake of the original on the way, Okamoto's comments suggest Konami now treats Silent Hill as an ongoing series again rather than a one-off return.
