Netflix will release Under Siege (Palacio), an eight-part fictional drama about Colombia’s Palace of Justice siege, on 6 November.

The date is deliberate. The real events unfolded in Bogotá on 6 and 7 November 1985, so the launch falls 41 years later, according to Variety.

On 6 November 1985, an M-19 guerrilla commando forced its way into the Palace of Justice and seized more than 300 people, including Supreme Court justices. On the next day, the Colombian Army stormed and retook the building. At least 94 people died or disappeared, including justices, guerrilla members, civilians and military personnel.

The series does not end with the retaking. It follows victims’ families in their pursuit of justice for more than two decades.

Colombian producer Dynamo produced the series. It was backed by more than seven years of research based on archives, testimonies and interviews.

Natalia Santa is showrunner, meaning the lead writer-producer, with writers Enrique Videla, Enrique Lozano, Jenny Ceballos and Estefanía Piñeres. The series is directed by Edgar Nito, Samir Oliveros and Jayro Bustamante. Mariana Berenguer and Mirlanda Torres are producers, with Andrés Calderón and Mirlanda Torres as executive producers.

The production was built at scale. It was filmed mostly in Bogotá on a set spanning more than 4,000 square metres that took more than three months to build. That included a 30-metre structure recreating the original façade of the Palace of Justice.

Netflix’s vice-president of Latin American Content, Francisco Ramos, described the project as “a huge undertaking, even by our own standards”.

The cast includes Natalia Reyes, Carlos Manuel Vesga, Robinson Díaz, Luna Baxter, Mariana Gómez, Santiago Alarcón, Nicole Santamaría, Andrés Castañeda and Camilo Amores. Netflix has confirmed that Reyes plays Pilar Navarrete and Baxter plays Olga Behar, according to Netflix.

What makes this stand out for viewers is the focus. This is a story told through the families left behind, not only the two days of gunfire.

The series was previously listed among 10 local titles coming soon in Netflix’s Made in Colombia slate. Netflix published its full release announcement on 8 October 2026. Colombia marked 40 years since the siege in November 2025, according to Reuters.
