A 10-year-old is fronting the No. 1 film in cinemas.

Arabella Olivia Clark leads Other Mommy, which earned $12.6 million on its opening day in domestic theatres, the United States and Canada, to debut at No. 1, according to figures reported by Variety. That is a fast start for a horror film built around a child performance.

Clark plays Bela, a daughter haunted by a demonic entity, as described by The Hollywood Reporter. Her screen parents are Jessica Chastain as Ursula, Bela’s mother, and Jay Duplass as Russ, Bela’s father, Variety reported. Chastain plays a dual role in the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film is directed by Rob Savage and based on Josh Malerman’s 2024 novel Incidents Around the House, Variety reported. It is Clark’s first leading role in a feature film. She previously played a younger version of Amanda Seyfried’s character in the 2025 film The Housemaid.

Clark read Incidents Around the House in three days before landing the part of Bela, Variety reported. She spoke to Variety over Zoom from her Los Angeles hotel room the morning after the premiere. Her mother is Rachel Clark.

She also has a mentor-like relationship with McKenna Grace, the former child actress, Variety reported. Grace knows the particular demands of carrying adult stories at a young age.

For fans, this means a new face to watch. A debut lead, a No. 1 opening and a veteran co-star in Chastain give Clark a loud introduction to mainstream audiences.
