Prime Video premiered a new trailer for Blade Runner 2099 at New York Comic Con, setting up a full-series launch on 25 November. Variety All eight episodes will arrive on Prime Video on the same day. Eight episodes. One day.

The show is a limited series, meaning it is built as one self-contained story rather than an ongoing drama with multiple seasons. It is set 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, in a reborn Los Angeles. The story centres on Cora, a fugitive who takes a final identity as a Blade Runner, a hunter tasked with tracking Replicants, the franchise’s bioengineered humans.

Hunter Schafer, the breakout star of Euphoria, plays Cora. Michelle Yeoh, an Oscar winner, plays Olwen, a Replicant nearing death. Forced into partnership, the two must hunt down a runaway who is hiding a truth that could collapse the city.

Dimitri Abold and Lewis Gribben star as series regulars alongside Yeoh and Schafer. The wider ensemble includes Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke and Maurizio Lombardi as recurring guest stars. That structure is familiar in television: regulars appear across the run, while recurring guests appear in selected episodes.

Silka Luisa is creator, showrunner — the lead writer in charge of day-to-day creative decisions — and executive producer. Jonathan van Tulleken directed the first two episodes and also serves as executive producer. The series comes from Amazon MGM Studios and Alcon Television Group.

The franchise traces back to Philip K. Dick’s 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? The original Blade Runner film, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Harrison Ford, was released in 1982. Its follow-up, Blade Runner 2049, was directed by Denis Villeneuve and released in 2017, with Ford reprising his role.

Prime Video first teased the new series at San Diego Comic-Con in July, where it also confirmed the premiere date. It later published an official teaser online tagged “Welcome to a future we no longer control.” The New York Comic Con programme was organised for Friday, 9 October at 1:15 p.m. EDT, with Yeoh and Schafer listed as participants. Amazon MGM Studios The studio followed the panel with new teaser key art under the heading “More Human Than Human.”

For viewers meeting this world for the first time, this means the set-up can be picked up quickly: humans, their engineered copies, and the hunters caught between them. The November release puts the complete eight-part story out at once, so the crew’s work lands as a single run.
