Rohan Campbell wants to direct next summer.

The actor told Film Updates he is trying to direct his own film in the summer of next year, describing it as “a very personal story”, according to Deadline. The project is still awaiting a green light, the formal go-ahead needed before production can start.

Campbell has been acting since childhood. He made his onscreen debut at 10 years old and broke out as Frank Hardy on Hulu’s The Hardy Boys, which ran for three seasons from 2020 to 2023.

Many viewers will know him from horror. He played Corey in Halloween Ends (2022), whose story includes a romance with Laurie Strode’s granddaughter, as reported by Variety. It was a large franchise role and it raised his profile with cinema audiences.

He has stayed busy in the genre since. His recent credits include The Monkey (2025) and Silent Night, Deadly Night (2025).

His latest screen role is in Netflix’s Below. Campbell stars as Jay Penney, a troubled Newfoundland expat and one of three children of fisherman Calvin Penney, played by Josh Hartnett.

What makes this stand out is the timing. Campbell is speaking about directing while his acting calendar is full, and before the new film has secured backing. For fans, this means the summer plan is an aim rather than a locked shoot.
