John Stamos says Beach Boys' Mike Love is facing serious health challenges

Beach Boys frontman Mike Love is facing serious health challenges, John Stamos said on Oct. 11. The update came hours before the band was due on stage in Nashville.
Stamos, who sometimes performs with the group, published the message on Instagram while travelling to Nashville, according to Billboard. The post arrived ahead of The Beach Boys' concert at the Ryman Auditorium on the night of Oct. 11. The band's official tour page lists that date at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.
Stamos did not give specific details about Love's condition. In his Instagram post, he described the 85-year-old singer as his "beloved friend, father figure, musical hero and mentor." He said he has played with Love for 41 years.
Doctors, family and friends have urged Love to focus on his health, Stamos said. Love insists on being on stage. That resolve has kept him performing despite the challenges described in the post.
Love is a co-founder and frontman of the Beach Boys. He is the sole remaining original member still touring under the group's name.
In July, the band paused a summer tour for six weeks, totalling nearly 30 shows, to allow Love time to recharge. No further information about his current treatment or future dates was included in the Oct. 11 message.
Love's cousin and Beach Boys collaborator Brian Wilson died at age 82 last year. Love and Stamos were among those who paid tribute at the time.
