Madrid-based Latido Film Sales has picked up Sht Happens*, the latest feature from Dominican film-maker José María Cabral, ahead of its world premiere in competition at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, Variety reported.

Latido will act as sales agent. That job is to sell the film territory by territory to distributors and platforms. The deal was closed before any public screening.

The film’s Spanish title is Comemierda. It was previously known as Gut Feelings. It is Cabral’s first dark comedy, directed for Lantica Studios, with Rafael Elías Muños and Sárah Pérez Báez credited as producers.

Spanish actor Fele Martínez leads the cast as Raúl. Lizbeth Santos plays Véronica and Leonoro Forero plays Isabella. The household around them includes Cindy Galán as nanny Lidia and Isabel Spencer as maid Dominga.

Cabral has a festival history. He was the first Dominican film-maker selected at Sundance, with Woodpeckers in 2017. Latido already knows his work, having previously handled his Hotel Coppelia from 2021. Antonio Saura is managing director of Latido.

Tallinn lists Sht Happens* as a 2026 film from the Dominican Republic in its Official Selection – Competition programme, according to the festival. The main competition this year comprises 12 titles, all world premieres, Screen Daily reported. Across the Official Competition and First Feature sections, the festival selected 21 world premieres in total.

Competition screenings run from 13 to 19 November as part of the festival’s 30th edition. A world premiere means no audience has yet seen the finished film in public. A competition slot puts it before a jury, press and industry guests at the same time.

What comes next is straightforward. Tallinn gives Latido a launchpad to show the film to buyers. Those first meetings often shape where an international title goes next, from cinema dates to streaming deals.
