Bridge Independent has boarded psychological horror film “Henry’s Ebb” ahead of its world premiere at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, according to Variety.

The sales company will shop the film to distributors. That process decides where and when audiences can eventually see it, whether in cinemas or on streaming.

The film stars Kingston Rumi Southwick, one of the stars of “Widow’s Bay,” in the lead role, Variety reported. The wider cast includes Banks Repeta, Ashley Shelton and Will Holland, with Rebecca Koon and Austin Willard in supporting roles.

It was written and directed by Thomas Mendolia as his feature directorial debut. It is produced by Lucas Ford and Joey LePage of Ford Films, with Tony Tehle and Irina Slepneva as co-producers.

The story is set in 1998 in the southeastern United States. Festival listings describe it as following a boy named Henry on the run from his unstable mother, as his best friend Ebb turns increasingly dangerous, according to PÖFF.

On the business side, Bill Straus of Bridge Independent is handling domestic sales, meaning the United States and Canada. Logan Taylor of New Ratio Films is serving as sales and distribution consultant, advising the team on release strategy.

The film already has a festival path mapped out. It was selected for the Frontières Buyers Showcase at the Marché du Film during the Cannes Film Festival, a market section where unfinished and new genre films are shown to buyers. From Tallinn, it will travel to North Carolina for its U.S. premiere at the Cucalorus Film Festival.

That North Carolina stop is a homecoming of sorts. The film was both set and shot in the state.

What makes this stand out is the timing. A sales deal just before a world premiere gives buyers a clear moment to watch, bid and plan a release, all while the festival spotlight is brightest.
