ITV Studios Brings Moon Mystery, Jeremy Wade Return and 11 New Formats to Mipcom

ITV Studios opened the Mipcom TV market in Cannes with a Monday-morning breakfast showcase of new and returning scripted and unscripted shows.
The gathering took place on Oct. 12, according to Variety. Mipcom is the international market where producers sell finished shows and formats to buyers. ITV Studios brought 11 fresh original formats to this year's event.
The showcase landed during a split for the wider company. Sky, owned by NBCUniversal, is acquiring ITV's broadcast and digital platform. ITV Studios will remain a standalone business as ITV divides into two firms.
Scripted titles led the slate. Andrea Riseborough stars in 'First Woman' as the first woman to walk on the moon, who goes missing on the lunar surface. 'Number 10', created by Stephen Moffat, follows the personal and political pressures on the occupants of 10 Downing Street. ITV also confirmed renewals and returns. Cold case drama 'Karen Pirie' was renewed for a third season. 'Line of Duty' will return for Season 7 next year.
Unscripted business was busy too. ITV Studios picked up distribution rights to Channel 4's 'Incognito', meaning it will sell the show to buyers outside Britain. The series puts 10 strangers together in an institutional setting for seven days. They must guess each other's true jobs while hiding their own. Singing format 'The Voice' hit its 80th territory commission through a deal in Estonia.
Jeremy Wade is back on the water. The host of 'River Monsters', which premiered on Animal Planet in 2009, returns in 'Fish On! With Jeremy Wade'. The video podcast series revisits his freshwater exploits. It launches Oct. 20 on Patreon and via RiverMonsters.TV.
Behind the slate are new partnerships and familiar names. ITV struck a deal with former Endemol Shine Australia executive Sara Richardson to launch a drama label. The label will work with Lingo Pictures to develop projects for Australia and beyond. Ruth Berry, president of global partnerships, leads the Zoo 55 digital content arm. Mike Beale is managing director of creative networks.
ITV Studios sits on a large production base. The group oversees 60 production labels across 13 international markets, with a catalogue exceeding 110,000 hours, according to ITV Studios.
For fans, this means waiting. Most of these titles were presented to buyers first. Transmission dates and channels outside Britain will follow once deals close.
