Meghan Markle and Malala Yousafzai turn afternoon tea into school funding for girls

Meghan Markle has promised 100% of net proceeds from her As Ever jams and teas to Malala Fund's work to ensure girls have access to "free, safe, quality education".
The pledge is part of a new partnership between Archewell Philanthropies, the charitable organisation founded by Markle and Prince Harry, Malala Fund, and As Ever, Markle's lifestyle brand. It was announced for International Day of the Girl, which fell on 11 October 2026, according to HELLO!.
Markle shared photos on Instagram to announce the link-up. The pictures were taken over afternoon tea with Malala Yousafzai in the Foyer & Reading Room at Claridge's hotel in London.
The pair were seen dining together at Claridge's on 7 Oct. Claridge's is a luxury hotel in London's Mayfair neighbourhood, as reported by People.
This is not their first conversation. Markle and Yousafzai first joined forces in October 2020 for a video chat to celebrate International Day of the Girl. Prince Harry later joined that virtual discussion, according to Elle.
Harry has his own history with Yousafzai. He met her at the We Day assembly at Wembley Arena in 2014, where he gave a speech.
We Day co-founder Craig Kielburger told HELLO! that he introduced Harry to Yousafzai backstage at We Day London. The introduction ended with a telling-off from Yousafzai's mother. Kielburger said Harry was scolded by her mum backstage.
What makes this stand out is the continuity. Six years after a video call, the same pairing has returned with a shop shelf attached. Jam and tea will now carry the fundraising.
