Amanda Seyfried is done with sex scenes for now.

The 39-year-old actor said she recently passed on a television series because the role would have meant having sex all the time. She revealed the decision during a conversation with festival co-chair Alec Baldwin at the Hamptons International Film Festival, according to Variety.

“I don’t want to do it. I’m uncomfortable with it. I’m not into it right now.” That was her plain summary. She added that she does not want to deal with being naked with a stranger.

She did not close the door for good. Seyfried said she might feel differently if another sex-heavy project came along at a later point in her life.

The reason is boundaries. Seyfried said she is getting better at setting them as an actor because she now has kids who pay attention to what she does. That extends off set too. Her new rule is that she will not agree to pose for photos with fans when she is out with her children.

It is a marked shift from her early years in the business. Seyfried previously told Porter magazine that she wishes intimacy coordinators, the crew members who choreograph and safeguard intimate scenes, had existed when she started as a teenage actor. She recalled being 19 and walking around set without underwear because she did not want to upset anybody and wanted to keep her job.

For fans, this means clearer choices about which parts she takes. No sudden retirement. No farewell. Just a line around what she will film while her children are young.

The festival conversation, first reported by People, ranged wider than that one decision. Seyfried told Baldwin she had not recognised herself or her work as a big success until recently. She also looked back to making ‘Mamma Mia!’ and feeling intimidated by Meryl Streep, who she described as “super chill” and honest, according to People.
