Amanda Seyfried says she passed on TV series over constant sex scenes

Amanda Seyfried says she turned down a television series because the role would have required sex scenes almost throughout.
She described the decision during “A Conversation with Amanda Seyfried” at the Hamptons International Film Festival, where she was interviewed by Alec Baldwin, according to Deadline. She said she passed on the undisclosed show because of the sex. Quite simply, she did not want to do it.
Seyfried, 40, said she is uncomfortable with sex scenes and does not want to do them right now, according to Deadline. She pointed to family life as part of the reason. She has kids now who are paying attention to what she does.
She also said she does not want to deal with being naked with a stranger right now, according to Deadline. The comment drew a clear line between her personal boundaries at this stage and the demands of certain roles. It was a practical objection, not a criticism of other actors’ choices.
That is a shift from earlier in her career. Seyfried noted she had previously taken projects including Jennifer’s Body and Lovelace, according to Deadline. In her younger years she purposely let herself be uncomfortable, according to Variety. She did not identify the series she declined.
What makes this stand out is how plainly she framed it as timing. Seyfried said she could be open to projects with sex scenes in the future if she is in a different space, according to Deadline. For viewers, this means her near-term choices are likely to steer clear of roles built around nudity.
The festival lists the session as part of its “A Conversation With” strand, a series of on-stage interviews with guest artists. Coverage of the remarks spread quickly, with The Hollywood Reporter and Page Six also reporting on 11 and 12 October 2026 that she had passed on a TV role over frequent sex scenes.
