Selma Blair arrested after alleged attack on Delta flight crew

Actor Selma Blair was arrested on Sunday after an alleged violent incident on a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York. Blair allegedly punched one flight attendant, bit another and tried to open the aircraft door while it was in the air, according to Variety.
Police were waiting. Law enforcement officers met the aircraft at the gate after it landed in New York. Blair, 54, was taken into custody and then transported to hospital for evaluation.
Two flight attendants reported injuries from the incident. One of the injured crew members received care at a hospital. The Port Authority confirmed Blair's identity to Variety, which first reported the arrest.
A representative for Blair said she experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. The representative said Blair received immediate medical attention upon landing and is in stable condition. The FBI is now investigating the incident.
The flight landed at John F. Kennedy airport at about 11 p.m. ahead of schedule with no operational impact. A Delta spokesperson said the airline has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behaviour and that the safety of customers and crew comes first.
The incident follows a previous in-flight incident involving Blair in 2016. She was then removed from a flight from Cancun to Los Angeles on a stretcher while travelling with her four-year-old son. During that flight she had been seated in first class and had been seen drinking wine, according to CBS News.
During the 2016 flight, Blair reportedly shouted, "He burns my private parts." Two nurses on board intervened and checked her bags for pills, and the pilot called ahead to the tower. The blackout that led to her being taken to hospital occurred on Monday, 20 June.
Blair issued a public apology on the Tuesday after that flight in a statement given to Vanity Fair. She said she had made a big mistake and regretted her behaviour, according to CBC. She later told Vanity Fair she had blacked out after mixing medication with alcohol before the flight.
