Anuel AA Asks Karol G to Unblock Him While Promoting New Single 'Vuelve'
Anuel AA has a new single out, and a direct request for his ex.
The Puerto Rican rapper released “Vuelve,” Spanish for “come back,” with an Instagram push on Friday night, Oct. 9, in which he asked Colombian star Karol G to unblock him on social media, Billboard reported.
“VUELVE KAROL G UNBLOCK ME BB. IT’S NOT THAT I’M A PLAYER; IT’S THAT I FALL DEEPLY IN LOVE,” he wrote in all caps. The message was posted in Spanish and followed by laughing emojis, according to Complex.
The post was built as a carousel. It mixed recent photos of Anuel AA with clips from the “Vuelve” music video. One slide was an edited group image that placed him alongside Karol G, Dominican influencer and singer Yailin La Más Viral, his current partner Fabiana Buitrago, and other former girlfriends.
That image carried its own caption: “Anuel AA, the new Christopher Columbus of America.” Anuel AA also dated Yailin La Más Viral.
He used the same post to throw down a challenge to his peers. He invited other artists to try to top him with a better trap song, trap being the bass-heavy strain of hip-hop that has become a staple of Latin urban music.
For fans, this means old history is back in the feed. Anuel AA and Karol G first met in 2018 while filming the music video for “Culpables.” They went public with their relationship on Nov. 26, 2018, which was Anuel’s birthday, and released a second collaboration, “Secreto,” on Jan. 15, 2019.
They announced their break-up in April 2021 after more than two years together.
Anuel AA is due to talk about his next steps in person soon. He is set to appear at Billboard Latin Music Week on Oct. 19-22 at the Faena Forum in Miami Beach, where he will join Billboard co-chief content officer Leila Cobo for a Superstar Q&A.
