High Potential Gets Post-Super Bowl Slot in 2027

High Potential will air directly after Super Bowl LXI on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2027, on ABC and Disney+.
That post-Super Bowl slot, the most-watched night on US television, goes to ABC's crime drama for a special episode. Deadline reported the scheduling on Oct. 13, 2026.
The special is planned as Part 1 of a two-parter. It will end on a cliffhanger. Part 2 will air in the show's regular time slot the following Tuesday, giving viewers a two-day wait for the resolution.
Star Kaitlin Olson announced the episode in a promo that ran on-air and online during Monday Night Football. The spot was titled "We're Going to the Super Bowl."
This will not be the Season 3 premiere. Season 3 is expected to return earlier, likely in January, with the February special landing mid-season.
Super Bowl LXI itself will air on ABC, ESPN and Disney+. The game will be held at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. For streaming, High Potential's home is Hulu, where next-day episodes and previous seasons are available.
The booking follows strong viewing figures. High Potential finished the 2025/2026 broadcast season as the No. 1 show in adults 18-49 — the age group most closely tracked for advertising — with a 3.35 rating. It was No. 3 among total viewers with 16.01 million. Both figures were measured over 35 days of viewing across ABC, Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ and digital platforms, according to data cited by Deadline.
The series also posted the biggest Season 1 to Season 2 increase for a network drama since Glee in 2010, as reported by Deadline. Disney's Q2 FY26 earnings commentary named it as a standout example from the quarter.
High Potential is based on the French format Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI) and was created in the US by Drew Goddard.
ABC has used this playbook before. In February 2006, the network aired Part 1 of a bomb-themed two-episode arc of Grey's Anatomy after the Super Bowl, which drew 38.1 million viewers. In 2000, it aired Part 1 of a two-part episode of The Practice in the same slot.
What makes this stand out is the speed of the payoff. For fans, this means no long wait after that cliffhanger. Tune in Sunday for the event, then Tuesday for the answer.
