Bryan Cranston Mourns Breaking Bad Son RJ Mitte, Dead at 34

RJ Mitte, who played Bryan Cranston's son Walter White Jr. on Breaking Bad, has died at age 34.
He died on Monday, Oct. 12, at his home in Brownsville, Texas, according to Deadline. Cameron County officials said an autopsy will be performed in the coming days.
Cranston mourned Mitte in a post on his Instagram feed. "I'm in deep despair as I write this tonight. RJ Mitte, my sweet son on Breaking Bad has died," he wrote, as reported by Variety.
In that post, Cranston said Mitte was 14 years old when Breaking Bad started production. Shooting on the pilot began in February 2007, he said.
Cranston also said Mitte took his own life. He said the two had been texting a few weeks ago about meeting for lunch.
Mitte played Walter "Flynn" White Jr., the son of Cranston's Walter White, across the run of Breaking Bad, according to People. The series was created by Vince Gilligan and ran for five seasons from 2008 to 2013.
Cranston remembered Mitte as a vocal advocate for performers with disabilities. He said Mitte also headed a philanthropic organisation focused on helping the disabled community.
Five days before his death, Mitte said in a social media post that he wanted to revive his Breaking Bad character, according to People.
Cranston, Mitte, Anna Gunn and Aaron Paul appeared together on stage at the 2024 SAG Awards to present the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. Breaking Bad won that ensemble award in 2014.
Mitte's Breaking Bad co-stars paid tribute after his death at 34, according to People. That cast included Dean Norris, who played DEA agent Hank Schrader.
