Ego Nwodim answers Shane Gillis's SNL gym joke with workout posts

“Whore reporting for duty.” That was Ego Nwodim’s answer to Shane Gillis’s Saturday Night Live monologue.
Gillis hosted the NBC sketch show on Saturday, October 10. Every host opens the night alone with a short stand-up set, known as the monologue. In his, Gillis said, “I haven’t been to the gym in so long, I didn’t know women just dress like whores now?” as reported by Deadline. The line was about gym dress and quickly drew responses.
Nwodim answered on Instagram Stories, the short posts that vanish after a day. Her first post was a workout selfie with the words “Whore reporting for duty” laid over the image. Her second was a photo of her post-workout meal, captioned “Getting my 30 grams of protein after heauxing.” Both posts were reported on October 13.
Nwodim is a former Saturday Night Live cast member, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She knows the stage Gillis stood on. She knows the humour and the timing of that room. She chose to answer from the gym.
She was not the only name to respond. Dan Levy said women wearing short shorts at the gym does not make them whores. He said it makes the men who use that word about them misogynists, meaning people who hold prejudice against women. His comment reframed the joke around the behaviour of the speaker, not the dress of the women.
The monologue was only one part of the October 10 show. Gillis also joked about trying to lose weight by hiking, according to NBC. The broadcast began with a cold open, the sketch played before the opening titles. That sketch featured Colin Jost returning as Pete Hegseth.
There was one more unscripted beat in the night. Gillis accidentally cursed during a “Green Eggs and Ham” sketch built around the Dr Seuss book. Fellow cast member Mikey Day stayed in character and improvised around the slip. Live air leaves no chance for a retake.
What makes this stand out is economy. Nwodim wrote no long note. She gave no interview. She reused the monologue’s own language, added gym clothes and dinner, and left it there.
