Propagate Content Picks Up Four Monster Films Docuseries

Propagate Content has bought four British docuseries from UK producer Monster Films, adding 40 hours of mystery and true crime to its catalogue.
The deal was first reported as an exclusive by Deadline on 13 October and covers The Real X-Files, Almost Perfect Murders, The Secret World of Forensics and Dark Land: The Hunt for a Killer Deadline. All four are docuseries, meaning real-life stories told across several episodes rather than in a single film.
The titles come from three different British broadcasters. The Real X-Files is a Sky History series. Almost Perfect Murders and The Secret World of Forensics are True Crime series, from a channel dedicated to real criminal cases. Dark Land: The Hunt for a Killer is a BBC series.
Each series runs to ten 60-minute episodes. That is 40 hours in total. The uniform length makes them simple to schedule, whether as a weekly hour or as a stripped run across consecutive nights.
Dark Land centres on cold cases in Wales connected to more than 100 unsolved murders, according to Deadline. The Real X-Files takes its cue from unexplained cases. The two True Crime titles stay with forensic science and murder investigations.
The deal was negotiated by Propagate chief financial officer Noah Nusinow and Jimmy Humphrey of Marmalade Sky, which represents the four Monster Films shows. Monster Films was founded by David Howard and Rik Hall. Propagate is led by Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owens, with Daniel Thunell as head of international.
Propagate was founded in 2015. The company develops, produces and distributes scripted series, long-form television, unscripted shows and formats to broadcast, cable, digital and emerging platforms around the world.
For fans outside Britain, this matters because of what happens next. An acquisition of this kind puts the shows with a distributor, meaning a company that licenses programmes to broadcasters and platforms in other countries. That is how a series made for one slot finds a second slot elsewhere.
