Salaud Morisset has taken worldwide sales rights to "Our Way to You," the first feature from French-Moroccan filmmaker Khalil Cherti, Variety reported on 13 October.

The film is known in France as "Ce qui nous mène à toi." The deal hands the company the task of selling the picture to distributors around the world, territory by territory. That is how many independent films find screens outside their home country.

The story follows Charlie and Hicham, a couple in love who want to start a family. Their journey runs into infertility and the long, often draining process of assisted reproductive treatment. The focus stays on the pair and the decisions they face together.

Nina Meurisse, a César award winner, stars as Charlie. Sofian Khammes plays Hicham. Jeanne Balibar, who won the César for best actress in 2018 for "Barbara," also appears in the cast. The César awards are France's national film prizes.

The film had its world premiere at the Angoulême Film Festival, where it won two awards, according to Variety. A world premiere means no public audience had seen it before that first screening. Its international tour starts at the Cairo International Film Festival in November. That festival launch is aimed squarely at buyers.

Condor Distribution, the film's French distributor, will release it in French theatres on 11 November, Variety reported. A distributor is the company that books a film into cinemas and handles its local release. France comes first. Other countries will follow only if distributors make deals.

The production moved fast this year. Industry site Cineuropa reported on 15 January that principal photography, the main shoot, was due to begin on 19 January. Amaury Ovise of Kazak Productions produced the feature. At Salaud Morisset, head of sales Paul Jullien leads the talks with buyers.

For fans following the film, this is the shape of things. A home release is locked. An international rollout now depends on the meetings in Cairo.
