Battlefield 6 opens Year 2 with Season 5 and Game Pass debut

Battlefield 6 starts its second year on October 13, 2026, with new maps, a new mode and a Game Pass debut on the same day.
Game Update 2.1.1.0 brings Season 5: Siege to Battlefield 6 and REDSEC, with a launch date of October 13, 2026. EA confirmed the timing in its update notes EA. Short version: a lot arrives at once.
Season 5 is organised around two new maps, a mode called Rapid Royale and a fresh arsenal of weapons, according to the season roadmap EA. A season, in live-service games, is a timed batch of maps, modes and gear meant to refresh the game after launch.
EA describes Season 5 as the kick-off for Year 2 of Battlefield 6. That second-year tag matters for players. It signals continued updates rather than a wind-down.
The same date brings a wider audience. Battlefield 6 joins Xbox Game Pass with a release date of October 13, 2026, Microsoft said Xbox. Game Pass, Microsoft’s subscription library, offers games for a monthly fee instead of a separate purchase.
Access will be through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Those are the two higher tiers that cover console and PC play, plus online multiplayer and other benefits on console.
For fans, this means one busy Tuesday. Newcomers can try the game through subscription on Xbox and PC. Returning players get new places to fight and new tools to do it with.
There is also a paid extra for players who want a faster start. The Ultimate Shortcut Kit for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC has a release date of October 13, 2026, and is listed at US$29.99 on the Xbox Store.
The kit is published by Electronic Arts and developed by Battlefield Studios. It covers all four classes — Assault, Support, Engineer and Recon — with shortcut access to their gear.
It also includes two cosmetics: the “Mortal Shriek” Dog Tag and the “Field Training: Cross Trained” Title. Dog Tags and Titles are small profile items shown to other players.
Players will still need the base entry. The listing says the kit requires Battlefield 6, sold separately, or REDSEC, plus all game updates, a persistent internet connection and an EA account.
