New Owners Keep New York's Lubov Gallery Open

Lubov Gallery in New York will stay open under new owners Mode Bonafilia and Kristen Wasik. The pair take over a space built by its late founder and already familiar to both of them.
The confirmation came on 13 October 2026. ARTnews reported that the gallery will continue operating under the new ownership. Artforum named Bonafilia and Wasik as the new owners. Ownership here means the practical side too: signing the lease, setting the exhibition calendar and paying the running costs.
Lubov was founded in 2016, according to the gallery's information page. It was started by Francisco Correa Cordero, who has since died. The gallery's social media history still records his name as founder.
Wasik led the gallery before. She served as its Director from 2023 to 2024, a job that in a small gallery usually means working directly with artists and running each show from install to sale. That spell was noted on the gallery's Instagram account.
Bonafilia joined later. She came aboard in 2025 as Director of Community Programming & Education, a role centred on public events and learning work around exhibitions. That appointment was also noted on Instagram.
Their titles have now changed. The information page lists Bonafilia as Partner & Gallery Dreamer and Wasik as Partner & Director. Partner, in this context, signals shared responsibility for the business as well as the programme.
For visitors, the message is straightforward. The gallery is not closing. No break in activity has been announced.
For regulars, that continuity counts. Small galleries run on close ties with artists and audiences. Keeping Lubov with two people who have already worked the room avoids starting from scratch.
