Narnia is roaring back. Netflix has released the first trailer for Narnia: The Magician's Nephew, directed by Greta Gerwig, according to Deadline.

The film opens in theatres on 12 February 2027 and streams on Netflix on 2 April 2027. Those dates were set out by Netflix Tudum, which said the release will include IMAX screens. That cinema-first gap, known as the theatrical window, gives audiences about seven weeks on the big screen before it lands at home.

At the centre are two newcomers. Beatrice Campbell plays Polly Plummer and David McKenna plays Digory Kirke, the two children pulled into the adventure, according to Deadline. The trailer follows them through London rooftops, strange pools and open sky.

The adults around them are familiar faces. Daniel Craig plays Uncle Andrew Ketterley, Carey Mulligan plays Mabel Kirke, and Emma Mackey plays Jadis, the White Witch. Meryl Streep voices Aslan, the great lion.

The trailer keeps its biggest reveals for its two magical figures. Aslan forms out of cosmic dust before letting out a roar. Jadis appears in a metallic dress, holding a silver wand and whispering, “Come to me, my power.” Another shot shows a winged horse leaping off a cliff with Polly and Digory on its back.

The wider cast includes Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Denise Gough and Susan Wokoma. The film is produced by Mark Gordon, Amy Pascal, Vincent Sieber-Smith and Gerwig. It tells the story of the creation of Narnia, adapted from C. S. Lewis’s book, as listed by Netflix.

For fans, this means an origin story first. Viewers will see Narnia being made, not discovered through a wardrobe. And they will have a choice to make: catch that beginning on a huge screen in February, or wait for April on the sofa.
