Cindy Sherman has dressed in Chanel tweed for a new edition of ARTS & CULTURE Magazine.

The project pairs Sherman with the Chanel Culture Fund, the French fashion house's arts programme, and was made ahead of her exhibition with Hauser & Wirth, the Swiss-founded gallery, in London. Tweed is the starting point for the pictures.

According to ARTnews, the collaboration was produced ahead of the gallery show and builds its new portraits around the fabric. Tweed is the soft, flecked wool woven into many Chanel jackets and suits, and Sherman wears and stages it for the camera. Chanel's own magazine pages list exclusive photography by Sherman in the issue, presented as Vol. 2.

That second volume reaches beyond one photo shoot. It includes original lyrics by Patti Smith alongside Sherman's photographs, Chanel's magazine description states. The same volume includes works by Linder Sterling. The result is pictures, song writing and visual art side by side, made for print rather than the wall.

The timing is tied to the gallery calendar. Hauser & Wirth lists a Cindy Sherman exhibition in London running 13 October to 23 December 2026, on its London listings page. A separate exhibition page notes an opening reception on 13 October from 6 to 8 pm. That reception is the invitation first viewing held before the public run begins.

There is also a New York run to catch. Hauser & Wirth lists a Cindy Sherman exhibition at its Wooster Street address in New York running 9 September to 17 October 2026. Details appear on the gallery's New York listing. The two exhibitions therefore overlap for five days in mid-October, with London opening just as New York closes.

For fans, this means two ways in. The magazine holds the tweed portraits, the Smith lyrics and the Sterling works on the page, while the London gallery holds the exhibition on the wall through to Christmas.
