Paris gets a new address for contemporary art on October 17, when Le Large opens on Île Seguin in Boulogne-Billancourt, west of the French capital.

The opening was noted by ARTnews, with public entry from October 17, 2026, according to Sortiraparis. The inaugural weekend runs October 17 and 18. That is the first chance for the public to walk in.

Le Large is a contemporary art centre, a venue built for new art and temporary exhibitions rather than a historic collection. A contemporary art centre is different from a traditional museum. It focuses on the present, with shows that change. It sits on Île Seguin, an island in the River Seine with a long industrial past.

Its first exhibition is titled Moteur Imaginaire. Moteur translates from French as engine or motor. Imaginaire points to the imaginary. It runs from October 17, 2026 to March 7, 2027, according to Paris je t'aime. Five months. One opening show to set the tone.

The show is curated by Cecilia Alemani, the curator being the person who chooses the artists and shapes the exhibition. It is organised with the Renault Fund. That link connects the programme directly to the site and its history.

Moteur Imaginaire draws inspiration from the symbolic heritage of the historic Renault factory site on Île Seguin, according to the City of Boulogne-Billancourt. The wider Billancourt territory once hosted major industrial actors including Renault and the Farman workshops. Cars were built where visitors will now look at art.

Artist Giulia Andreani is included in Moteur Imaginaire, according to Galerie Max Hetzler. No further details of her contribution were given in the verified listings. The gallery notice confirms her participation in the dates for the Large show.

What makes this stand out is simple. The island made things that moved. Now it invites people to stop and look. The engines are gone. The idea of making remains.

For first-time visitors, the address is easy to grasp. Île Seguin lies in Boulogne-Billancourt, outside central Paris but close by river and road. Le Large gives it a new cultural anchor. It adds another stop for anyone following openings in Paris this autumn. Come for the building. Stay for the first show.
