Hotel Bedrooms Join the Tents as Frieze Week Opens in London

Twelve dealers are hanging pictures in hotel bedrooms in Mayfair while 172 galleries set up in tents in Regent's Park.
Frieze London and Frieze Masters 2026 runs from 14 to 18 October at The Regent's Park in London. Frieze London lists 172 galleries from 42 countries and regions this year, with opening hours on Wednesday, 14 October, from 11am to 7pm. Tickets are now on sale, according to Frieze.
The main fairs include new curated sections and gallery debuts. Artist Studio Lenca created the Deutsche Bank lounges at Frieze London and Frieze Masters 2026.
The bedroom shows are part of Frieze Week's smaller side. The Art Newspaper described them as boutique fairs bringing fresh ideas to London on 14 October 2026.
One is the inaugural London Invitational. It was founded by Dallas-based dealer James Cope and is staged at The Chancery Rosewood in London. It occupies a single floor of the hotel, with each of its 12 exhibitors taking over an individual guest room.
No white cubes. Just beds, lamps and art.
Exhibitors include Franklin Parrasch Gallery and Lomex Gallery from New York, Bel Ami from Los Angeles, and Vardaxoglou from London. Cope established the Dallas Invitational in 2023 as a boutique hotel fair running alongside the Dallas Art Fair in Texas. Since its second edition, the Dallas event has been held in rooms at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas. Cope was approached by the Rosewood Hotel Group about staging a London edition after that success.
The London venue has its own history. The Chancery Rosewood is housed in the former US embassy building on Grosvenor Square in London. The building was designed by Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen and is now owned by Qatari Diar, the real-estate investment arm of Qatar's sovereign wealth fund.
The other newcomer works differently. Fair Play Art Fair is a new fair founded by Ryan Stanier. It charges no upfront stand fee — the usual rent a gallery pays for a booth — and instead takes a 42% commission on sales, the share kept from each sale. Stanier previously established The Other Art Fair and sold the business in 2016.
What makes this stand out for visitors is choice. The park offers scale. The hotels offer closeness. You can walk a vast tent in the morning and knock on a bedroom door in the afternoon.
