Dallas Invitational takes Texas galleries to London for Frieze Week
Dallas Invitational in Texas is opening a London edition to coincide with Frieze Week in London.
ARTnews reported the expansion on 21 September 2026. It places a Dallas-based gallery showcase in front of a London audience during one of the art calendar's busiest weeks.
The London edition is scheduled to open in 2026. It is set for the former United States embassy on Grosvenor Square in central London, according to The Art Newspaper.
An art fair is a large marketplace where galleries rent space to display and sell work. Exhibitors is the trade word for the galleries taking part. Think of it as a pop-up shop for galleries, only with paintings, sculpture and photography. Frieze Week is the shorthand for the cluster of fairs, auctions and gallery openings held around the Frieze London fair each autumn. Competition for attention is fierce. A new arrival needs a clear hook.
In Dallas, the spring announcements gave a flavour of that hook. The Dallas Art Fair in Texas and the Dallas Invitational announced their 2026 exhibitor lists in February, according to Glasstire. The Texas galleries in the mix included Conduit Gallery, Cris Worley Fine Arts, Erin Cluley Gallery, Galleri Urbane and James Harris Gallery.
Those are local names with long histories in Dallas. Their presence underlines the Texas roots of the project. The London move tests whether that mix travels.
Frieze runs a wider circuit beyond London. Frieze New York in the United States will take place on 13-17 May 2026 at The Shed in Hudson Yards in New York. That 2026 staging is billed as the 15th edition with more than 65 galleries. On the West Coast, Los Angeles galleries including Château Shatto, the Pit and Roberts Projects will be present at Frieze Los Angeles in California in 2026.
For visitors, this means something simple. Londoners will be able to see work brought over by Texas galleries without flying to Dallas. Dallas galleries get a ready-made audience already in town for art.
