A king who cannot get his words out is now on stage in Cirencester.

The Barn Theatre's new production of David Seidler's The King's Speech opened on 9 October 2026. It is listed to run to 7 November before a major UK tour in 2027. The Reviews Hub

The Cirencester run is the starting point. The tour follows next year.

Loveday Ingram directs the production. WhatsOnStage The theatre bills the play as adapted from the Oscar-winning film. Barn Theatre That film told the story of Prince Albert, known as Bertie, and his work to overcome a stammer before and after becoming King George VI.

George Rainsford plays Bertie. Stefan Dennis plays Lionel Logue, the speech therapist who works with him. Rosanna Miles plays Elizabeth.

The wider company includes Tim Hudson as George V and Mark Hammersley as David. Ian Kirkby plays the Archbishop of Canterbury. Lucy Bromilow plays Myrtle.

The production has partnered with CIC Stammers Matter, a community interest company — a business that uses its work to benefit a community rather than private shareholders.

The Barn Theatre lists the Cirencester dates as 9 October to 7 November. TheatreWeekly puts the same dates in 2026 and describes the 2027 outing as a major UK tour. The 9 October opening makes Cirencester the first stop before the show travels.

For audiences, this means a familiar screen story in a smaller room. The Barn is a 200-seat-scale regional house built from a converted barn, where the audience sits close to the actors. A play about speaking, and struggling to speak, lands differently there.

No further casting or tour dates have been confirmed in the verified sources. For now, the show is in Cirencester until 7 November.
