KO1KEYZ debut straight to No. 1 on Billboard Japan Hot 100

KO1KEYZ have gone straight to No. 1 in Japan.
The 12-member group's debut single “KO1KEYZ” topped the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart released Oct. 14, covering the tracking week of Oct. 5 to 11 Billboard. The Hot 100 is the ranking that combines physical and digital sales, audio streams, radio airplay, video views and karaoke data.
KO1KEYZ were formed through PRODUCE 101 JAPAN SHINSEKAI. The group made its simultaneous Japan-South Korea debut on Oct. 7. The single also topped Japan’s Oricon chart on its debut day, according to earlier reporting Chosun.
First-week sales drove the Hot 100 win. Billboard Japan counted 525,248 copies sold, placing the single at No. 1 for physical sales. It also ranked No. 2 for radio airplay, No. 4 for downloads with 3,546 units, and No. 10 for video views.
Mrs. GREEN APPLE’s “Kyouhan” climbed from No. 8 to No. 2. The song led the chart for radio airplay. It ranked No. 3 for video and No. 5 for streaming, with 5,748,899 streams. Billboard Japan lists the track on the band’s sixth original album POPS, released Sept. 30.
EBiDAN’s “Yes! Tokyo” landed at No. 3. It topped the video measure and ranked No. 2 for streaming. STU48 followed at No. 4 with “Fuyufuku ni Kigaetara,” the group’s 14th single. Released Oct. 7, it sold 202,645 copies to place No. 2 for sales on Billboard Japan’s count.
Streaming belonged to Ayumu Imazu. His song “Musubi” jumped from No. 20 to No. 5. Released digitally on Oct. 2, it led the streaming measure with 9,304,543 streams.
FRUITS ZIPPER’s “Power of Love” soared from No. 68 to No. 6. The group sold 72,829 CDs to rank No. 3 for sales. KAITO’s “swim?” entered at No. 8 and topped downloads with 28,300 units. The song, released digitally Oct. 5, is the first single from KAITO, the solo moniker of King & Prince’s Kaito Takahashi. M!LK’s “Suki Sugite Metsu!” held at No. 9.
Vaundy closed the Top 10. “Shiwaawase” vaulted from No. 49 to No. 10. It is the theme song for the film Mama ga Mou Kono Sekai ni Inakutemo: Watashi no Inochi no Nikki, released in English as ALL OUR TOMORROWS, which opened Oct. 2. The song placed No. 9 for downloads and No. 4 for streaming with 5,836,205 streams.
Further down, ZUTOMAYO’s “akanesasu” debuted at No. 29 and placed No. 2 for downloads. aiko’s “Anata no Hana no Iro” entered at No. 49 as the opening theme for Season 2 of the TV anime Blue Box. LE SSERAFIM’s “Made My Night” surged from No. 100 to No. 21 after its Japan-only CD sold 26,831 copies.
What makes this stand out is the split at the top. The No. 1 won on discs and airplay, while the songs around it won on streams and video. For fans, this means the same Top 10 counts very different listening habits together.
