GTA 6 reviews to arrive before 19 November launch

Reviews for Grand Theft Auto VI will go live before the game goes on sale on 19 November 2026.
Insider Gaming reported on 14 October that advance reviews are planned. The outlet said it had learned the provisional embargo date but will not publish it because it is subject to change.
A review embargo is the fixed date and time before which reviewers cannot publish. Publishers use it to coordinate coverage. In practice, it sets when written reviews and video verdicts can appear.
Early publication matters for a launch of this size. It gives players a chance to read independent assessments before paying. It also gives retailers and gift buyers information before day one. That is normal for large releases.
The console launch is set for 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the two current home consoles from Sony and Microsoft. That date is the launch date, not a pre-order or early access window. Players on those machines get the game first on that schedule.
Insider Gaming separately reported that the PC version, the edition for desktop and laptop computers, is scheduled for Q1 2027. That window covers January to March. It sits several months after the console date.
Rockstar Games describes Grand Theft Auto VI as a single-player experience, a story played solo rather than as online multiplayer. The game is set in the state of Leonida and returns to modern-day Vice City, according to Rockstar Games. Leonida is the fictional state. Vice City is its neon-lit coastal city, modelled on Miami.
The publisher has lined up related releases around launch. Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, an official soundtrack created with Atlantic Records, is due on 19 November, the same day as the console launch. Rockstar also listed Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look for Netflix at 3 p.m. ET on Thursday, 27 August. Pre-orders were announced to begin on 25 June.
For anyone weighing a day-one purchase, this means choice. You can wait a few days, read the reviews, then decide. No rush. The verdicts will be there before the tills open. It is a short window, but it is enough to compare notes before spending.
