Carin León has taken the top spot on Billboard's Latin Pop Airplay chart with "Desde Que Te Tengo."

The song rises from No. 2 to No. 1 on the chart dated Oct. 17, which measures plays on Spanish-language pop radio stations in the United States. It is his third No. 1 on that chart, according to Billboard.

It was a slow climb. The track reaches No. 1 in its 20th week on the list. In the tracking week ending Oct. 8, it earned 5.5 million audience impressions in the U.S., up 45%, according to data from Luminate. Audience impressions estimate how many people heard a song on radio.

The climb pushes aside Ricardo Montaner’s “Para Que Seas Feliz,” which drops to No. 3 after a four-week run at No. 1. León holds two songs in the chart’s top 10 at once. His collaboration with Kany García, “El Sombrero y La Camisa,” slips from No. 6 to No. 7.

What makes this stand out is where León comes from. He is known principally as a regional Mexican artist, a broad term for music rooted in Mexico’s regional styles including banda, norteño and sierreño. “Desde Que Te Tengo” is only the third song by a predominantly regional Mexican act to top Latin Pop Airplay in 2026.

The other two set a high bar. Karol G and Marco Antonio Solís’ “Coleccionando Heridas” holds the year’s longest stay at No. 1 on the chart so far, with 15 weeks. Xavi’s “DOSIS” led for eight consecutive weeks.

León also moves on the wider Latin radio picture. “Desde Que Te Tengo” jumps from No. 20 to No. 10 on the overall Latin Airplay chart, which covers all Spanish-language radio formats. That move gives him his 16th top 10 on that chart.

Elsewhere on the charts, Lenin Ramírez scores his own win. His single “Polvo Rosita” tops Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart. It earned 6.2 million U.S. audience impressions during the tracking week, up 22%. The song also climbs from No. 10 to No. 9 on Hot Latin Songs, the ranking that blends airplay, streaming and sales.

It is Ramírez’s third leader on Regional Mexican Airplay. His previous No. 1, “Todo Lo Fue,” ruled for one week in May. Before that, “Yo Ya No Vuelvo Contigo,” featuring Grupo Firme, led for one week in June 2020.

León arrived at this week with a long record on Billboard’s Latin charts. He had previously earned three No. 1s on Latin Airplay, seven No. 1s on Regional Mexican Airplay and placed 19 songs on Hot Latin Songs.
