Russell Tovey will bring his one-man thriller The Guilty to the West End in January.

The Donmar Warehouse production will play the Harold Pinter Theatre, with previews from 16 January, an opening night on 27 January 2027 and a final performance on 3 April WhatsOnStage. It is a transfer, meaning the production moves from its original subsidised home into a commercial West End house.

Tovey plays Joe, a police officer, alone on stage for the full show. The play is written by Chloë Moss and directed by Felix Barrett. It runs in real time.

The story is based on the Danish film Den Skyldige, written by Gustav Möller and Emil Nygaard Albertsen. Moss has adapted it for the stage as a live thriller set around emergency calls.

The move follows a sold-out premiere at the Donmar Warehouse this summer WhatsOnStage. The Donmar, a 251-seat subsidised theatre in Covent Garden, had announced the play as part of its 2026 season Donmar Warehouse. Barrett is best known as the co-founder of Punchdrunk, the company behind large-scale immersive shows.

Tickets for the West End run start at £30. Producers said more than 20,000 tickets across the run will cost £40 or less. Public booking opens at 10am on 16 October 2026.

Previews are the first paid performances before the official opening. For fans, this means a second chance to see a show that sold out its first run.

The Harold Pinter Theatre dates cover 11 weeks. No further casting has been announced. The production remains a solo performance by Tovey.
