A mock press conference held by children outside al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City forms the centre of a new exhibition in London about the war in Gaza.

The footage, broadcast by Al Jazeera, was recorded on 7 November 2023. It includes around 20 children, with a boy aged about ten acting as spokesperson to ask for protection, according to The Art Newspaper.

The footage opens An Exhibition as Record at Tramps gallery in London. The gallery was founded by Parinaz Mogadassi. The display runs until 12 December.

The exhibition is a non-selling show, meaning none of the works are offered for sale. It is built in four parts, presenting Al Jazeera news footage alongside installations, photographs and sculpture. An installation here means work arranged across a room rather than hung as a single picture.

One room pairs old and recent work. It includes Lucio Fontana's 1941 sculpture Nudo femminile sdraiato, a lying female figure in clay.

Fontana's figure stands in front of a photograph printed on a silver mirror. The photograph was taken in 2023 by Reuters photographer Mohammed Salem. It depicts Palestinian woman Inas Abu Maamar cradling her dead five-year-old niece Saly. Viewers see their own reflection in the mirror surface around the image.

The final room holds Federico Vespignani's 2025 photographic installation Short-Term, But Long-Term. It consists of 20 images drawn from dating apps. The profiles belong to Israeli soldiers serving in Gaza, according to The Art Newspaper.

The soldiers' faces are redacted. In the pictures they had photographed themselves inside homes and at sites destroyed during the conflict. Vespignani first published more than 300 of the dating-app profile pictures last year. Twenty were selected for the London display.

Nothing is for sale. The gallery lists further visiting information on its website at trampsltd.com.
