More Than 150 Theatre Makers Donate Work to Second Gaza Charity Auction

More than 150 theatre designers and artists are donating original works to a second online charity auction for Gaza. The Stage Designers and Artists Auction for Gaza launches at the Bush Theatre in London on 26 October, and bidding runs until 9 November 2026.
All proceeds will go to Gaza Formula Fund, which supplies infant formula, nappies, clean water, food and other essentials to babies, children and families in Gaza. WhatsOnStage reports that the auction is hosted on the online auction site GalaBid.
The fund was founded in 2025 by London-based stage designer Georgia Lowe and Izziddeen, a father living in Gaza. It operates as a project of Small Steps Project, a UK-registered charity, which will administer the money raised. According to the same report, the fund has distributed more than 9,000 tins of formula milk and 150,000 nappies, and has raised more than £500,000 in total.
The first auction, held last year, raised more than £32,000. This year's organisers have again drawn on the theatre world's design and production teams, the people who build the sets, dress the actors and paint the backdrops that audiences rarely see up close.
Contributors include Christine Jones, Rufus Norris, Tim Hatley, Rae Smith, Ian MacNeil, Grace Smart, Anthony Ward, Miriam Buether, Mark Thompson, Vicki Mortimer, Anna Fleischle and Lez Brotherston. Some of the lots are linked to specific productions, including work associated with Billy Elliot, Oliver!, The Hunger Games, Cyrano de Bergerac, Titanique, Hamlet: Hail to the Thief, Monty Python's Spamalot, Game of Thrones: The Mad King and West End Girl.
The items range widely. Donations include artwork, costume designs, photography, prints, sketches, puppets, props and ceramics. Each piece is signed by its creator.
For theatre fans, the auction offers a chance to own a piece of design work from shows they may have seen from their seats. For the fund, the next few weeks will show whether the second auction can match the first.
