Selena Gomez celebrated her first wedding anniversary with Benny Blanco in pyjamas, with a slice of year-old cake and their wedding videos.

She described the quiet night to Extra, saying she and Blanco stayed in and kept it simple. "We're so cheesy," she said of the decision to rewatch footage from their wedding day. She spoke on the red carpet at her fourth annual Rare Impact Fund Benefit at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on Oct. 14, according to Billboard.

Gomez and Blanco married on Sept. 27 last year in Santa Barbara, California, after two years of dating. They reached the one-year mark on Sunday, Sept. 27, and marked it with cake saved from the 2025 ceremony.

The cake was part of the plan. The couple chose a small cake rather than a large multitiered one, setting aside six slices to eat for their anniversary. Blanco shared a photo on Instagram of one slice served on a pink plate stamped with the words "LOVE IS LOVE." He captioned it "Year old cake never tasted so good." He also shared a wedding ceremony photo on his Story with the message "1 year down… forever to go…"

One slice almost did not make it through the year. Blanco said while co-hosting Today with Jenna & Sheinelle that Martin Short ate part of the wedding cake after mistaking it for a prop. The cake had to be put back together before it could be saved.

Home cooking has become a familiar celebration for the pair. For Gomez's birthday this year, they cooked a homemade Italian feast together rather than going out. The anniversary followed the same pattern. Stay in. Eat well.

Gomez discussed the anniversary while hosting an event with a different focus. Her Rare Impact Fund Benefit raises money for youth mental health services and education. This year's edition, the fourth, was emceed by Sean Hayes and featured performances from Leon Bridges and Bella Kay.

Extra published its red-carpet interview as an exclusive titled "Selena Gomez on 'Sweet' 1st Wedding Anniversary with Benny Blanco in Their PJs!" on Oct. 14.

What makes this stand out is how ordinary it sounds. No big party. Just cake, pyjamas and home videos.
