Alex Scott has left her role presenting the UEFA Women’s Champions League on Disney+.

The former England defender chose to walk away herself to focus on other projects, according to The Guardian. Disney confirmed her departure on 15 October. Both sides parted with warm words.

Scott is putting her energy into a new show. One More Word WSL launched at the start of the 2026-27 Women’s Super League campaign, England’s top flight, through her own company First Cap Productions Limited. It features fellow former England internationals Anita Asante and Fara Williams.

She had fronted Disney+’s coverage since Disney took on the Women’s Champions League, Europe’s top club competition for women, in 2025. That was an exclusive five-year deal to show the tournament across European broadcast territories. The programmes are produced by ESPN.

The first season was ambitious, but not always smooth. The Guardian described the opening week as aiming high with an impressive range of experts, while noting gaps and glitches. There was sharper criticism this season after an unscheduled advert break cut into the second half of Arsenal’s 1-0 win over HB Køge for more than three minutes.

Disney had promised scale from the start. Every game would have an on-site presenter and analyst in English, and its launch team named Scott alongside Jeanette Kwakye and Ben Haines, according to Disney.

The show goes on without her. Disney’s presenting team will continue to include Shebahn Aherne, Nedum Onuoha and Lianne Sanderson. Commentators Vicki Sparks and Jacqui Oatley remain part of the lineup.

A Disney+ spokesperson thanked Scott for her contribution and wished her success. Her representatives said she was grateful for the chance to work with the team at Disney+ and hopes they work together again.

Scott is one of the most familiar faces in English football broadcasting. She presented BBC’s Football Focus for five seasons before it closed in 2026.

For fans, this means a familiar voice leaves the European nights but stays close to the domestic game. The Champions League coverage loses its launch presenter. The WSL gains a new conversation led by three players who have lived it.
